ALTA Surveys
American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) Land Title Surveys are a specific product prepared for property owners, under guidelines jointly adopted by ALTA and the NSPS. Typically called “ALTA Surveys”, they are currently governed by the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements effective from February 23, 2016.
Extended Coverage Title Insurance
These surveys are required for extended coverage title insurance policies and occur at times of property transfers or refinancing. The surveys are private and remain the property of the client requesting the survey. They are not normally filed in the public record, but they can be filed as a Record of Survey at the client’s request.
