RCI has provided professional services to the Carson City School District since 1999. We have provided planning, permitting, civil design, surveying, inspection and testing, and construction management on four voter-approved bond initiatives and multiple Capital Improvement projects totaling over $90M. Simultaneous permitting and design on multiple District schools and facilities, combined with our ability to successfully complete every project within budget and schedule is a testament to our 17-year professional relationship.
Empire Elementary
RCI served as the civil engineering representative on this $12M renovation of this 6.5-acre site. RCI was responsible for the civil site planning, permitting, design, construction staking, construction management and inspection. This work involved 30,000 square feet of building additions, parcel mapping, permitting, site and transportation design, ADA compliance and public outreach.
Seeliger Elementary
RCI served as the civil engineering representative on this $2M CMAR renovation of this 11-acre site. RCI was responsible for the civil site planning, permitting, public outreach, site and transportation design, ADA compliance, and construction staking. This work involved a 3,200 square foot building addition, new school entrance and a new traffic flow pattern to provide safer routes to school.
RCI had previously performed all the playground grading and drainage improvements during the 2000 Bond. Additionally, we were responsible for Special Use and Building permitting, site surveying and design, construction inspection and materials testing. RCI site design included traffic and pedestrian circulation plans, road and parking lot design, bus route pavement and curb replacement, concrete sidewalk and walkway design, grading and drainage, sanitary sewer and water service.
Carson High School – Sports Complex Improvements
RCI served as the civil engineering representative on this $2M track and field, and $350,000 tennis and baseball area renovation. Carson High School is a 67-acre campus with a full service athletic facility. RCI was responsible for the permitting and design necessary to replace the aging natural turf football field and nine-lane asphalt track with an artificial turf multi-use field and nine-lane rubberized surface track. Additional work included new baseball and tennis spectator seating areas, grading and drainage improvements, and ADA and FEMA compliance.
RCI had previously performed the design of the south parking lot improvements, bus yard and ROTC site improvements during the 2000 Bond. All RCI work included permitting, site surveying and design, construction staking, construction inspection and materials testing, and CMAR construction management assistance. RCI site design included football field and track grading, subsurface football field drainage system, track paving and event striping, and other improvements. To support this facility, an extensive storm drain system was designed to eliminate past flooding issues throughout the complex.
Gleason Professional Development Center & McKinney Vento Facility
RCI provided planning, permitting, surveying, civil site design and construction management services on this 2.25-acre site improvement project. This project had a $500,000 budget and involved three funding sources, voter-approved bonds, Capital Improvement funds and a Community Block Development Grant.
RCI was responsible for conceptual planning, Special Use and Building permitting, parcel map research, site surveying and design, construction staking, construction inspection and materials testing, and assisting District staff with construction management. Site design included water and sanitary sewer improvements to a new McKinney-Vento Children in Transition facility, ADA access, concrete walkways and AC paving design, grading and drainage, site striping and signage, and landscaping. Additional work included agency and public outreach.
